Project Summary

This conceptual project draws inspiration from
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, a novel exploring themes of vanity, and the pursuit of eternal beauty.

The idea emerged during a period of dissociation, experiencing apathy towards personal well-being
and withdrawing from my physical self.
The only intrigue came from this book, with its abundant rhetoric of grandiosity and fixation on youth.

Looking back at my previous work, much of it was made on impulse. Although I admired the spontaneity of
past projects, I felt called to move on from aesthetic -centered content and progress towards more impactful work or rather art that speaks to our humanity.

The hardest part of this project was facing the reason it exists. I needed to confront the darker parts of myself and hold accountability for the shadows I’ve avoided.

Never quite ready to witness what felt like my own undoing.

Photography has helped me to relay my vulnerability, not just for art’s sake but in reflection of a shared collective.

This has been a reminder to create space for rituals that feel sensual and somatic in routine. Texture, scent, and intricate detail served as sensory cues that helped bring me back down to earth and back into my body.
